Tissue expansion is prefered in the treatment of hair losses with regard to various reasons or hair losses on the burnt zone. It is a highly preferable treatment method for the treatment of burn-related baldness. Tissue expansion is mainly done by inflating various form and volume balloons placed in the form of silicon under the skin.
Tissue expansion is mainly done by inflating various form and volume balloons placed in the form of silicon under the skin. A small reservoir, called port, is attached to the balloon placed under the skin which could be seen easily. After a certain period of time, an isotonic fluid is injected through this port. The skin starts to be expanded thanks to the rapidly inflated balloon with the injected isotonic at certain intervals, for instance, once or twice in a week. After seeing that the tissue has been expanded enough, another surgery is done, and the balloon is extracted and the expanded skin is used in the region that the repair procedure will be done. Inflating procedure is quite critical in this method and it should be carefully applied. Otherwise, the sutures may be opened and inflammation may be developed.
